2013 Year review

Hi everyone, happy new year! I will now review my 2013 results. Looking at the yearly graph is very motivating me to improve. Here is the yearly graph:

I can't maintain a consistent upward going graph, nor is my graph going straight down. I think a lot of my swings are directly connected to my tilt and other psychological problems. Next year i should try to improve it and i think i've done a good job lately as now i already have a habit of checking my results only after a session.

Most of my volume was on three stakes: NL25frZ , NL25fr and NL16fr respectively.

I will do some thinking about my plans regarding poker and make another post about 2014 and January goals.

November results and December goals

Results:

Hi everyone! So november was pretty good for me pokerwise. I've managed to win at both cash and tournament tables.

Cash games were rough on me mentally. My play is still wery swingy. But all in all i finished in green.

So hopefully that big upswing will continue in december.

Tournaments went very good for me ( as  i am not a wining player at tourneys ). Here is the graph.

So the main profit came from two tournaments. Firstly, I won a regional tournament. The prize is not very big, however it is always nice to climb to the top.

Secondly, i've decided to enter the micromillions main event. That was a good decision. I played for about 7 and a half hours and finished in 1390th place for 117$.

Goals:

1) Finish my exams

2) Find motivation to play more

3) Reach Goldstar

4) Collect stellar reward (~2,9k vpps left)

"Do not bluff fish" is a misconception!

Setting up some ground rules

It seems to me that a big part of my bad results are caused by not following some rules that i have made up. So i think a better way of obbeying to those rules is if i write them down. Here it goes...

Rules:

#1: Do not play if you are not focused (ie. don't be working on anything else, skyping, browsing)

#2: Ban myself from zoom games ( this one can be changed if my bankroll grows)

#3: All bonuses go straight to cashout

#4: Do hand history reviews, post HH on 2p2

#5: Make notes

#6: Do not look at results until the end of the session

Ok, i think that will do for now. If i come up with any more rules i will update it.

FPP use update

FPPS

I wrote earlier about the best use of pokerstars fpps. Time has passed, fpps were generated and spent. Now more and more I'm regreting those fpps which i spent not on hyper-turbo satellites. Here is the reason:

As you can see i've already played 41 tourneys and cashed 14 of them. So now lets do the counting.

The highest possible vip level for me is Goldstar. So i can get 75$ bonus for 6250 fpps. Lets assume that i would purchase two bonuses: That is 150$ for 12500 fpps. For the same amount i could play 12500/235=53,19 tourneys. In order to be breakeven i need to win 15 tourneys: 15*11*0,95=156,75$ ( I am multiplying by 0.95 because this is an exchange rate for which i sell my T$ on twoplustwo.

So basically now i am almost freerolling for 53-41=12 tourneys, as if i win at least one more i'd be up by almost 7 bucks.

CASH UPDATE

I played cash only for three days now. All things are going quite well. I am a bit scared for being above EV and hope it wont even out. I'll need to pace myself in order to maintain Goldstar. The good thing is that i am back at 25nl.

Youth exchange in Zakopane

So i've been away for a week. I went to Zakopane, Poland. I participated in a youth exchange project. There were people from 5 different countries: Lithuania, Poland, Croatia, Slovenia and Romania. I had lots of fun and fortunately got to go on a hiking trip to local mountains.

Now i am looking forward to geting back on playing 16nl and maybe geting some 25nl. Today is a chill day. I decided to start two tourneys. In one i already busted. The other one is the big 11$ and it is the second brake. I have 26 bb stack. we'll see...

PART 1

Earlier i wrote that i was not going to make goldstar for the third consecutive time. However yesterday i had a lot of time and decided to go for it. So the daily result was awful but with a happy ending

Today is the last day and i feel sure that i will make it. I will finish this post later in the day as it will also be results post.

I don't know what is more EV in theese situations. However it is quite common when you are bvb or bvBU and min3bet/min4bet and your opponent is somewhat fishy. They push over with various overpairs, aces and some bradways. I need to look into theese spots more.

I am reducing the damage on september so that is nice. However if i complete both my bonus and goldstar that would be amazing.

So this month is the worst for the year so far. Had to move down to 16nl. That limit is going quite ok. However i am starting to lose motivation to put in the volume also to write a blog...

It is very likely that i will not remain goldstar, which i had achived for two straight months. That is nothing to be worried about though. I won't complete the whole reload bonus. Now this is not very good.

The good thing is that i think my stagnation with poker is bound to end. Either i am going to improve or i am going to stop playing so much ( really not that much, but it is to me). The main thing keeping me here is to get some money on the side.

I will continue playing mtt's sometimes.

The best thing lately is Lithuania taking down silver in Eurobasket 2013 in Slovenia!

Random hands

In the first one i thought what else other than AA he could have, was thinking about folding, but i still have not done this preflop, i think.

In the second one i was obviously thinking how to get all his monies. This play works quite often as vilain can not  fold his holdings.



Anyway the month is going terrible. Firstly i played bad and then i ran bad at 25nl zoom. Won back about half of winings on 16nl regular tables. I still have more than half of reload bonus to clear, but i think i will stay away from 25nl zoom as it is not worth the bonus. Will try to rebuild my roll on 16nl.

September update: fpp satellites and moving down

I've already written about fpp use for hyper-turbo sunday storm satellites and this post is a continuation. So i wrote that i would try out 26 tourneys which is almost equal in fpps as 75$ bonus. Here are the results at the moment:

I am now freerolling for the next two tourneys as i've reached the 77 mark.

So my decision is to spend my fpps on these satellites until it becomes less valuable than 75$ bonuses ( I hope that never comes ).

Recently i had a huge downswing and decided to move down to 16nl regular tables. Oh boy, that limit is the fishyest limit i've ever seen maybe except 2nl. Here is todays graph.

2013 August results and September goals

Results:

So the summer of 2013 is done. And now it is time to review and sum up the results. This month was very frustrating for me. So here are the results:

1) 2800 VPPS (for re-load bonus. This is funny because i was trying to make deposit for a max of 600$ and failed. I transfered my currency just a bit short as i needed 6 more dollars for full 600. That means i lost 10$.)

That is it. I think setting other goals is no use for me because they do not seem very important.

Best use of pokerstars fpp?

So recently i've red about the use of pokerstars fpps. In this blog post it is stated that the best way to go is 235fpp sunday storm satellites.

 




Although one may disagree and say the best use is this...

Anyway as i am goldstar currently the biggest bonus for me available was 75$ for 6250fpps. That is 1,2 cents/fpp. So i will try out the satellite method. I will play 6250/235=~26 tourneys. In order to be just above the 75$ bonus value i should win 7 (77$) tourneys. So far i've played 13 tourneys and cashed 2 of them. in the other half i need to win at least 5. This game is very high variance as it is hyper-turbo. I guess i ran not very hot as i got AA vs AA already.

Also i still don't know if i am going to sell T$ or use them. I started reading a tournament book and would like to give some tourneys a try.

Poker is going very bad last couple weeks. I can't seem to play well when i know i am down that session/day/month. So this nice hand was like a little piece of sunshine in somewhere very very dark (getting poetical, lol).

My poker is going awful right now. But how can you make money when fish make money. So it has been a while since i have seen such stats ( almost 100 vpip). This guy managed to go up like 2 stacks in 100ish hands and then he just left. Anyway going to finish my month spewing chips on regular tables with table selecting. Hopefully i can make it back to black.

I got back from the beach by the sea and started the grind.

Gutsy play

Villain was 74/39/18 over 23 hands. I know that is a small sample, but he was down about a stack already. My decision was based on two things: 1) his stats were very fishy 2) he had 4bet+ with 33

Zoom and regular tables differences

So i thought i would give regular tables a visit. Seems like zoom is a lot tighter. All the money went in pre flop.
